Scope
Techniques and technologies for high quality, competitive agricultural products using sustainable environmentally-sound management systems. More specific, that department will work on:
- Innovative cultivation techniques (crop rotation, cover crops, mechanization), rational use of resources, crop physiology and ecology, integrated crop protection, development and evaluation of genetic material for the production of high quality products, organic farming, certification of production systems, safety, hygiene and tracking of agricultural products
- Technologies for sustainable management of agro-systems and energy resources such as: rational use of energy in agriculture and use of renewable energy sources with emphasis on biomass, management of agricultural equipment and support of domestic agricultural machinery and greenhouses’ industry, adoption of new technologies in agriculture (informatics, new materials, precision agriculture, hydroponics), technologies for environmental protection and waste management, hygiene and safety in the agricultural sector.
